rebuilding a 4f100

any hints or tips before i tear into this '99 7.3diesel 4x4 f250?

symptoms; dont wanna up shift from 1st, has been drag raced (did well too),

the drained atf is dark like burnt, kinda stinky, some particulate swirl in the drain pan.

Make sure you are in a extremly clean environment.
