50 State Legal Exhaust Purchased a used 1991 Ford F350 5.8L 4x4, and had it shipped to me. Arrived w/o any emissions equipment, running headers (no air injection or EGR hook-up) into 3 inch duals with mufflers and no cats. I live in California, Los Angeles specifically, so I have to get on the right side of the smog cops. Does anyone have any suggestions about a smog legal exhaust system. I'm going to need the whole deal, stem to stern. Every part from the manifold gaskets on. Appearance is not a priority, but useable power and durability are. I'm also looking to build torque, and not a high revving quarter miler. The wide open system on there now, despite being illegal, is not servicing the power curve optimally. Many thanks. Philo

Why not just go back to original? It's the only way the thing will ever be right, and if you can afford to have vehicles shipped you can afford to do it right.

i halfway agree with saxman. new intake with egr, cats. it is not going to be something real cheap. you might look into them car part weekend jobs and get the parts you need for pennies on the dollar. supposedly, these parts will tell you if they are legal in Cali or not.

May try to develop a relationship with a muffler shop near you. These guys remove original equipment all of the time, and the previous owner almost never wants it back. Ask them to keep their eyes open for some take-off manifolds and such, and you might be in business. Amazing what a little conversation, and an 18 pack of coldies from the local store will get ya!

| Hey good call 75, didn't think of that. Might want to have a look in the back of their shop.....the dumpster, with permission of course.
