| Banned question When a user is banned, is it just the user account/name that is banned or the ISP address? |

| The forum has software that can track the IP address. This way you cannot just create a new account. Most forums are setup like this. So I would be willing to bet, as an educated guess, they monitor and bann your IP address.

| it depends on the situation. spammers and members are handled differently. most of the time just banning the screen name is enough to get the job done though. |

| I did see this, but my question was geared towards the type of ban (user name or ISP), not the length. Thank you for the response. |

| We do not ban the ISP (Internet Service Provider) such as AOL, Shaw, bell, etc. |

| Not the provider like Dax said, but if we have to, we can ban an individual address or range of address as a last resort for anyone harassing the forum.

| The IP Address is something that the computer stores, not nescesarily the service that gets one to the internet. It is the ID number for the PC... and YES, the IP address is very easliy banned along with the user name.... The ISP is a totally different story.... if the forum decided to ban the ISP or Internet Service Provider, then everyone who used comcast, or verizon or netzero to log on to this site connected to the same server would follow the ban..... I just wanted to add the clarification for those others reading this thread, there is a difference between the ISP and thew IP addresses asscoiated with accounts on here.
