4 Door pickups

I just have to get this off my chest......why can't truck manufacturers build/ design a cab where the back seat access is easier? This is my biggest disappointment every year a new model comes out....until now. Dodge's latest 4 door model (I think 1/2 ton) finally has something right or improved. For once, when getting out of the back seat, the boots, shoes, flip flops, toes, etc. don't hit the "B-Pillar." I know that this is probably part of the design/ strength of the truck...but, I'm not accepting it as must be. I'd like to get a new truck with 4 doors, but this just kills me. Everytime you go to the auto shows, check it out...everyone has boot marks on the interior plastic from getting out. Ford HD models are the worst (1/2 tons are a little easier) and I won't buy a Dodge. I'm done.

Wow, quite a rant there bud. Personally I think that if they can make a mid or full size SUV with easy access to the back seat that the same design should be possible with a 4 door truck. I totally agree. And i feel where you are coming from. It is kinf of dumb. Now what I have noticed is the 4doors with the suicide doors are a bit easier to get in and out of since there is no "b" pillars there.

but those trucks tend to be half doors in the back and can only be opened when the front door is opened. and often trucks with those only hve the door on one side

Never sat in the back of my 4 door truck. Maybe clumsy passengers need not ride if they cant keep feet from scratching my junk up.
Perhaps letting passengers in with smaller feet would do the trick. My labs are the only ones that ride in the back seat (alright sometimes people actually get in there), but all in all I have not had this problem. Not saying that the problem does not exist. Matter of fact I just ran out there and checked, and yes it is a little tight, but I am also looking at the support that the "B" pillar provides, and the length of the roof. Gonna be tough to make that pillar any smaller. Gotta have some beef there to keep a side impact, or rollover as safe as possible.
Even went and checked the rear seat in the car, and you know, It is also a little tight too.
Cant see to many alternatives to this, but maybe,,,,,,,,,,

yes, cars have the same situation...unless you ride in a 7-L series BMW, A8 Audi, the 460L Lexus', etc. The current Pontiac Torrent/ Chevy Equinox has an easy enter/ exit design. I still think it could be redesigned for 4 door trucks....like possibly follow the contour of the front seat, instead of the straight down obvious design.
