| Gas prices. Gas here in Houston, Texas area is running @ $3.06-$3.09 regular unleaded I went yesterday to pick up my son at work I was on empty I said it's gas time well he said put $15.00 dollars in it well I was going to add a can of Lucas to gas tank after I seen how many gallons one gets for $15.00 dollars I added $20.00 more dollars I should be adding super with my chip but it's not going to happen. We should all get together one day and don't fuel up our rides I wonder if that would bring the gas prices down since they would have extra gas to go around us little people need to take a stand? |

| thats cheap, well, down here, its hovering around 3.49 a gallon, and diesel, wow, thats just unexplainable. and nobody is going to take a stand against gas prices becuz everyone is too lazy to get on a bike every once in a while, and truckers, that would have the most impact. if truckers just pulled off to the side of the road, probably a week, and we might see lower gas and fule prices, but nobody will do that, so basically, where we are now is where we are going to stay.

| You know, I find it interesting that gas prices can be so different from place to place. We drove out to Philly for a hocky game the other night and I-95 was closed, so in an effort to re-route traffic, we ended up in New Jersey! Right before we crossed the Delaware River, here in PA, it was 3.37 a gal, then right on the other side... it was 2.93! WTF!!! We stopped and topped off the tank since it was unintentional and I get to brag about it..... I persoanlly have a strong opinion on this subject, as some of you know, but I will tone it down a bit. I just think it is weird that now it drops below 3 bucks and we get all excited, when this time two years ago, it first spiked over 2 bucks and we were very very peeved. It is all desenitization, and it is part of the plan for the oil companies and their investors to be so filthy rich that they never have to care about what the poor guys like us at the bottom of the totem pole have to pay! I agree, there should be something we can do, but hopes of that are looking a bit bleak if you ask me.

| and you know Pete, on a side note, being as that by the time you can legally drive, gas will be over 4 bucks a gallon, here is some food for thought. When I was your age, and not that long ago, it was $0.93 a gallon to fill up. It hit $1.09 and we flipped..... so You are complaining now, but I doubt you were there not seven - ten years ago, when it was cheap! So cherish what you have for prices now, and prepare, cuz when you hit my age even, at a lonely 25 it could be like 7-8 bucks a gallon! LOL.

| i remember in 1998 or 1999 when I first started driving gas here (toronto) was 63 cents a litre (my conversion is rough, 4L in a gal? so 252.0$ a gal?) and I said when it hit 80cents I was parking my 81 monte carlo. 10 years later I own a 350ci 4x4 pickup @ 107.0 a litre. I herd its suppost to go up to 140.0 this summer. I was looking @ a article about E85 (ethonal) and although its cheeper to buy, it only does 1/2 the milage and you need stainless steel gas tank and lines. not to mention I tryed to search where there is one near me and found nothing. Of the posts I read, most of the States have them around. Whats anyones take on E85, Flex-fuel (GM's) and other hybred vehicles? Jimmy P.S. Info on E85 may not be correct, thats what I read on a MSN website and others. |

| here in michigan, there is a congressman that wants to add $0.50 more for a gallon of gas. we're at $3.30 right now...has come down from $3.49 (diesel was $4.19). he says he wants to lower our consumption......what a great idea! he wants to save the planet because he's believes in the idea that one particular "researcher" saying "the planet is sick/ has a fever." GET THIS GUY OUT OF HERE....WHO VOTES FOR THESE WHACKO'S? |

| This could get to be a conversation that has the potential to get a little out of hand. Understanding a little bit about the petro-chem industry really makes me question why the swing in prices varies so much. Most refineries in my area are running at capacity, as are the storage facliities, but the cost of manufacturing is still rather high, and we as consumers have a requrement for this "dino juice". Noy buying gas (fuel) for a day is not going to make any impact on the manufacturers, nor the supppliers. The demand is so high, that you will eventually need to buy it, and if you do not buy it today, you will buy it tomorrow. Where is the impact in that? Do this on a larger scale, like the above mentioned truck drivers, and you slow down the delivery of valuable goods that will make the cost of these goods increase, so in this case prices of other goods and services that require a fossil fuel to either provide a role in delivery or manufacturing, this price of the product will also increase. INdependant drivers will still drive regardless of price, and have to do so at a lower margin, but will take advantage of larger companies trying to battle "big oil" and this will defeat the purpose. The price of gas is not so high that most of us have to change our lifestyle. If this is the case, and we are concerned about the price of gas, then we are living out of our budgets, and too close to bankruptcy. Most individuals drive large gas guzzling vehicles designed to impress others and at the time of purchase lomg term mileage is not a concern, until the price of gas increases, and folks are left scrammbling trying to figure out how to afford such a luxury. To easy to complain about the cost of operation, than it is to take responsibility for a wild purchase. Funny, but I do not see too many volkswagons running around. Might be because it is not cool to drive one? If you wanna play, you have to pay. The complaints I hear everyday (not any specific persons here) in my area, and my area has gas at over $4.00 per gallon, and I filled up the Super Duty with #2 the other day, at over $4.21, fir diesel, go figure! These complaints are typically from soccer moms driving 12- 15 mpg Range Rovers, or ford excursions while they are standing in line at a starbucks waiting to pay over $5.00 for a cup, thats right a cup of coffee. We have no problem paying $3.00 per gallon for milk, or way over that when we consider how much a bottle of water costs, heak try airing up a low tire at a gas station, we find it normal that we get out to pump own gas, or fill up our own tires. There was a time when full service was an option. We as consumer are as responsible for our own actions, and while I have my own personal complaints with regards to the oil companies, I have mine for far different reasons, and believe that if we are that concerned about the increase in prices, it is probably a better solution to look after out own personal requirements for particular goods and services. Try riding a bike, or driving a car that gets better gas mileage, or find a better way to budget some money. Make a sandwich instead of buying a burger, this saves money and gas by not having to drive to get to the local food joint, and you do not have to sit there with the vehicle running in the drive-through. Yeah, this could be an interesting topic, and is right on the razors edge of being too political, lol. |

| personally, i don't mind paying these prices. if prices were consistent, we'd probably wouldn't complain as much...and could plan accordingly. but, when prices jump 30-40 cents at a time, and then slowly come down....then leap forward again, and again, and again....it's a gamble. i could fill up my truck...spend 80 bucks one day, burn it all that day, and pay 50 bucks the next.....it's all games. driving is not only a necessity, but it's like a freedom...and no one likes their freedom restricted/ reduced or played with. yea, this topic may go a long ways. |
