Just post on this thread or send me a PM I can tell you the pros and cons to almost any brand on any truck. With that any warranty issues, keys, locks, parts, and any other info I can provide.

I've been looking for a tonneau cover for a 1991 Dodge dakota longbox. The only ones I can find are for a 6ft bed. Does anyone make them for a 8ft bed?

Greasemonkey and flopeyman there are 2-3 company's that make off the wall applications.

With a tool box SST (side slant tonneau) snap cover would be the cheapest.
The SST is one of our top sellers, life time warranty that covers the vinal snaps and tracks etc. The snaps do not need to follow a female counterpart, the snaps fall in the track without needing to stretch the cover left to right trying to find the mate.

Downey Products Northeast - SST

another is the Gaylord Painted fiberglass and runs around $1,300 and up depending on the specs.

The Gaylord I would need to check on Monday (actually call) to ensure that they produce them for that vehicle.

If you have one of these in mind I'll check what we sell them for to give you a guesstimate.

Greasemonkey

The Downey SST (side slant tonneau) can be made for the vehicle as well.

The "98DK" Is a hard vehicle to get a fiberglass Lid for, full toppers no problem.

Gaylord does make a fiberglass lid for that vehicle called the TL series.

They are on the pricey side around $1300. They are located in California and ship crated in a box, which does complicates things. We had to ship back a unit twice for damage and the end customer was not thrilled when his $1300 unit took 2 1/2 months to come in right. On the other hand the quality of the units is unbeatable. Most of the parts are used in the industry by other company's including LEER and A.R.E.

If you didn't have $1300 in mind your next option is used. With used there are a few things to look for. Depending on the lock style, hinge system, gas props, and company really make a deference replacing parts. Triglass were bought out, produced great units but most parts are unavailable. Gas props no problem but the hinge system and lock are damaged the unit is worthless.

Has anyone tried or know someone who has a DiamondBack Truck Cover? Saw them at a show and they look real nice and they seem real heavy duty

Be carefull on the add ons. To many plastic add ons can make a truck look like it was tricked at Auto Zone or checkers. Not a good look.

Of course Im a basic guy,, ALL STOCK, except Lift wheels tires and exhaust....PEACE LOVE AND CHICKEN GREASE
