what gmc has going on is only in his and a few other counties. everyone is required for one year safety no matter how old unless you register the car as collectable. then it is every 5 years. in the emission counties, it is not required on anything over 25 years old or anything less than 3 years old. less than 3 years old is hooked up to a computer instead of having its tailpipe probed.

here in pa all obd2 vehicles have to have the check engine ligth out to pass... if they have obd1 then they run the dyno on it but if its pre obd1 then they dont do anything but a safty inspection but i can think of about a dozenplaces i could go to and give the mecanic a 12 pack and he will pass whatever i bring him.... or inspected it really good when i wanna buy a used vehicle.... they know that times are rough right now and alot of people around here cant afford to do much with there cars other then fill them up and drive them till they die
