| Should I have my alarm uninstalled? This has been a concern of mine since shortly after I bought my truck. I have never been a fan of alarms and I have kicked around having mine uninstalled. Every time I deicide to have it done, I change my mind. Here are a few issues I have with the whole thing. First, my controller is broken. It is one of those older big ones with the display screen on it. I know it will be costly to replace. Second, I am not sure I trust some one else doing it. A lot can go wrong and I am nervous about some one else getting into my wiring harness. I have uninstalled them before on other trucks I have owned. Being since I pay a lot of attention to detail I never had a problem. But I am not home and won‘t be for a while. So I have my doubts that some one else would be as meticulous with my truck as would be. After market alarms have the potential to cause problems in your trucks wiring. But, it is already installed and other than being a real annoyance has not caused me any mechanical issues as of yet. So in some way I think I should leave well enough alone. But there are several things I want done to my truck before I return home. I have a lot of mods planned that I will do myself. So to save time, I want a lot of the small details done first. What are your thoughts and experiences with alarms and removing them? Should I really trust some one else with this delicate procedure? I do not wish to spend all my time chasing electrical demons.

| the only alarm i had, i ended up yanking out. you hear them so much anyways that it seems like noone pays attention to them. everyone assumes that you set it off on accident. get one that screams fire or rape. everyone runs then. |

| mine is on when it's at home or if i'm in ear shot of it, otherwise i don't bother. the '86 will be getting one with the key fob that alerts you of trouble, along with a couple ignition kill switches. i might even weld some small u-bolts to the shifters so i can lock the shifter in reverse to the 4x4 shifter. if they want it, i'm gonna make 'em work for it. ![]()

| I agree with not making it easy for them. I would rather do ther things to prvent the theft of my truck. I think I would be better off with a simpler wiring harness.
