Plow Storage?

Well now that winters ferocity has taken a backseat and the 151 inches of snow we got up here in NY this year are almost gone.... Does anyone have any tips on storing a plow. I've heard that it's wise to cover the hydraulic moving parts with Vaseline to prevent rust and keep the seals good... Any others?

touch up the paint and put it under cover(garage), don't let it sit right on the ground if outside, if nothing else set it on a pallet

It's definitely going in a garage, and up on a "cart" with caster wheels, so it will be off the cement.

And Bill, It's a 7.5 Western with a "unimount" system. I honestly don't know much about it. It came with the truck, basically as a bonus, and it's the first plow I've ever owned. So I'm pretty green to this plow stuff.

Speaking of paint... the plow has sat for years in the previous owners driveway. It was literally never used. So there is quite a bit of rust on it and a lot of the powder coating (I know it's powder coated cause there's some sort of decal about it) is all coming off in large sheets.

So, what is the best way to get all that rust and powder coating off? Sandblast it? Then what can I repaint it with that will last? Rustoleum spray paint?
I want to paint big ol' shark teeth on it or something fun like that lol.

Wire brush will work, stop down to tractor supply and by a gal of machinery enamel.

you could have it sand blasted..... but like leo said, just invest in a wire brush that goes on a grinder, and get after it.... but be careful. if the wire wheel gets any loose clothing..... it'll twist ya up in a hurry. (and don't ask me how I know.)
and then just get some good equipment paint.

LOL, don't worry I've got a few "don't ask me how I know's" under my belt too.

I like that idea, and I already had a trip to Tractor Supply planned this week actually, so I'll look for that enamel.

Well, you guys have been really helpful on this one... Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that coming... I wonder just how much we'll get. I guess it was wishful thinking when I saw grass again lol, was thinking it was all over with. But I should know better by now, up here the snow can (and does) fly well into April. Doubt I'll be in Batavia, unless my grandma gets snowed in. I stay on the west side, in the Spencerport area. Plenty of long driveways to make a quick buck on out here
