Acetone for diesel trucks ????

I've heard that putting in a couple onces of acetone in a diesel truck can increase the gas mileage, does anyone know any info about this?

---Thanks---

you can put that in there for the cost of the acetone, it is not going to save you any money because it doesnt really do anything for mileage. believe me, i know. they say that offroad fuel hurts your mileage as well but i didnt see any difference. then again, that would be illegal wouldnt it??

NO! Acetone is corrosive and eats rubber. Its also got a BTU content that is much lower then Diesel, on top of that it does not lubricate at all and can damage injectors and pumps. Do not use it as fuel.

off road fuel does not hurt your mpg, it's better! Off road is still low sulpher(500ppm), and runs better. Flying J, and a few others still offer it as onroad fuel, and unless it's the new style needing ultra low(<15ppm) the results are better. all you need is a vehicle with a high flow filler for the big nozzle

Leo, LSD will only improve mileage in a truck designed to burn it. If you put LSD in an ULSD truck, you will damage hard components. Also, off road diesel (lsd) will be moving to ULSD status by 2010 as part of the up coming emissions regulations. Around here they have already changed it in a lot of places.
