Which years? These are actually rather close on paper, but given the variables, each has advantages for different applications.

The 6 popper is a torque monster, and can pull, and pull and pull. It lacks a little high end rpm, and might not turn the tires at an incredible pace, but it is tough as nails.

The 335 series, 351M engine, is unfortunately a weak example of the V8 ford engine. This engine is not a head turner, and is not gonna set any land speed records either, but can be a reasonable engine. The biggest advantage that this engine has, is that is was found in many 4x4 trucks, and shares the same bellhousing pattern as the 385 series engine. You will know this as the 429/460. These are common swaps for these vehicles, and the 351M/400 engines are great as well as easy candidates for an upgrade to the 460.

Good answer 75K30 again. I don't want to high jack this thread but what about a 4 banger in a 1965 Scout I say it would be a good engine since it's just a V/8 cut in half what do you think 75K30 & members?

hp i cant comment on but have seen very few inlines go to junk due to failure. noone wants to get rid of them as they are very dependable work horses. are you stuck between these 2 engines or can you slide away from either of them if power is what you are looking for??
