Aftermarket overdrive/gear splitter questions

I want to install an aftermarket over drive in my truck. First question is, is it an aftermarket over drive or a gear splitter? I have heard them called different things. Also, which one do you all recommend? The only two I know of are from Gear Venders and US Gear. I am leaning towards the Gear Venders model.

Are there any other options out there I should consider? What should I know before entering into such an expense?

over drive /splitter

to the best of my understanding a overdrive is basically a splitter because it give you another gear . i would go with the gear vendors ,my ole mans got one in a 1940 chevy with a ch465 and he's got a Eaton switch on the shifter to engage it when he wants it . if he wants he can split it and get 8 forward gears .it's basically a jag over drive ,it work's good .he's had it for about 13 or so years . he tow's with it also ,up to a 24 ft trailer .

i've always liked gear venders, it doesn't actually slpit gears, it give you a half gear thru the range with a gear above stock high gear being overdrive

ive always wondered about this... how exactly does a gearsplitter work? my cousin explained it to me once but i couldnt quite wrap my head around it... are they difficult to install? I'd LOVE to put an extra gear or more in my nissan and bring the highway rpms down... 3,000 at 65 seems a little overkill to me...

Each company offers something different. It would be a good idea to look at both. For my needs, I think the GV unit will be the best choice.
