| 5spd transmission hey everyone i am new to the forum. I have a 4x4 1995 chevy 1500 stepside that i am repowering. Rite now it has a 350 with a Borg Warner 5spd with 220K. I have a 383 that is going in but i need to find a manual tranny that will stand up to it. i still want to be able to shift it kind of fast so that makes anything like the toploader 4spd out of the question and i also really want a 5spd. I find trannys all over the place that are for 2x4 trucks but that dosnt do me much good. I also looked into Fords devorced transfrcase but i think thats a little to much work. thanks, jeff |

| they use the same tranny in most 4x4's that they use in 2x4's, I would consider a 12" clutch if you don't have it already

| the entire aft part of the transmission is different. the 4 bolts where the Transmission bolts to the transfer case apposed to a yoke thats bolts to the drive shaft. I now that like the 700r4, 350 and 400 turbo have both 2 wheel and 4 wheels drive setups but the manual ones do not. |
