Spare me It's been a lifetime since I've been to a junk yard but I need a spare wheel & tire. What is a fair price for a steel 8 lug wheel with used tire in fair shape?

Around here $50-$100. Check craigslist or your local newspaper, usually find them cheaper in there. I f you were closer, I'd give you a whole set!!

I bought a set of 4 stock 8 hole ford steelies a while back and they were $40 a piece just for rims. That was the cheapest I could find them in a salvage yard. Almost all tire/wheel combos were at least $50 each for 14's and 15's. !6's and 16.5 were in the $100 range.

Thanks, Guys. I won't feel ripped off if I spend $100 for a wheel and good rubber or $50 for one in rougher shape now. I think I'll put green slime in whatever spare I buy and run it for a few miles then clean it up and hope I never have to use it.

| Hey Z07 not sure where you're located but I got a spare rim and tire in So Cal I could toss your way on the cheap. The tire and rim are both brand new and have never been ran on the road. The little rubber stubs are still on the tire As far as junk yards out here, they quoted me anywhere from $80-100 for rim and tire.

Besides I believe most tire manufacturers recommend you replace your tires every 4 or 5 years now due to dry rot and seperation issues. Also the Craigslist idea mentioned before is a great possibility. I have picked up many sets from there on the cheap including the classic 8 hole polished Alcoas my truck is running on now. 4 rims + 315/75/16 AT tires mounted with plenty of meat for only $200... can't beat that haha. I know I've seen spares for the superduty trucks as low as $25 with decent rubber. Might take some time and patience but there are plenty of deals out there, you just have to look!
