Cool. Ought to be a good runner. I am sure I don't need to tell you. You already know. Use the GREEN antifreeze not the Orange junk.

Yes, that is what I am reffering to. You are using conventional Green going back together I assume?

That looks pretty nasty. Glad your doing some clean up work before throwing it in the Blazer.

What is your experiences with the green vs. orange(red depends on the brand). I have been told that the orange is better as far as last longer the only issue with the orange is gaskets and all, that is when people mix the antifreeze or buy that mix that says you can use it on either one. Or the water they use. I was told if you are going to use the different color that you need to flush the system WELL or the proper way would be to replace the gaskets in the engine but who wants to do that. At least that is what they taught at my vocational school.

if you get the good stuff green offers the same 5 year 100,000 mile (not sure on actual years or miles but i know its the same) as dex-cool. Also green is more readily available. I've always had a mental picture of being out if the middle of nowhere, perhaps Arizona running dexcool and my engine over heats loosing most of my coolant only to find that the local parts house only has green (which you can't mix the two).

The orange is only better because it apparently lasts longer. THATS IT. Otherwise, more harm than good in my opinion. This was GM's answer to a 100,000 mile maintenance free engine with exception of oil changes. I usually kept the Dex Cool in since the vehicle was udner manufactuer warranty. If I kept it lone enough to go out of warranty, then I changed it to the Green on some day at my leisure when I felt energetic and needed a reason to be outside.
