Oh great... now I'm the brake expert. LOL!

Her brakes are getting noisy again, and I suspect the self-adjusters aren't working the way they should, so I'm going to change all the brake hardware soon.

The brakes on the GMC are good, but I think they could be better. Last time I had a wheel off I checked the front pads and they were worn (probably good for another 5k or so) but still serviceable. No idea what shape the rears are in since I've not pulled a drum to look, and I couldn't see them when I had the safety inspection done last month. (Very narrow bay that the truck barely fit in, no room for me to get in there and watch over the guys shoulder) New pads and shoes won't hurt anything, and that way I know I'm good for another few years. I don't like waiting to the last minute with such things, especially on a truck that's 5,200 lbs. empty.

The front tires and alignment are a "must", since I have one bad tire (radial pull) on the left front. Still got good tread on both, but I want to get that pull taken care of.

The rest of the stuff is minor annoyances. The multi-function stalk is wearing out and needs to be replaced. Sometimes it makes the delay wipers go nuts, sometimes it keeps the left low beam from coming on until you cycle the high beams, and you have to play with the switch for the 4-ways to get 'em working sometimes.

The ignition switch is, I think, the cause behind my fuel gauge not always working. There's times when it will stay on empty, but start working if you jiggle the key a little. I've checked all the connections to the sending units, and the grounds, and they're all clean and tight, so I think it's the switch.

The arrowstick is something I've been meaning to put on the truck since I got it, and I'm surprised it didn't have one already, since it was a highway work truck. The lights and strobes are great for when I have to work near the road, but sometimes I have to block off a lane at a jobsite and an arrowstick would make that safer.

One other thing I thought of, and plan to add to the list, is a heavier alternator. Again, I'm surprised the truck didn't already have one. It's got the stock 100 amp in there, and it can't really handle the full load of the lights and strobes. If I "light it up", especially if I have the heat or a/c on, and the headlights, I can watch the voltage steadily drop down to under 11v, even while rolling. Considering that the lightbar itself draws about 35 amps, I would have expected a larger alternator on the truck. A 135 or 150 from a newer truck will bolt right in, so that's an easy fix. Or I could get a 200 single wire and adapt it.

You're right! I should probably start interviewing models now, so I can get just the right one to make the prototype from.

Not only that, I try to get all my maintenance, like brakes, flushes, trans services etc done while the weather is warmer, so I don't have to be dealing with painful issues on top of the cold when the fingers don't work well cold. Also many things come apart easier at warmet temps than cold.

Yeah, but she's scared to drive my truck (It's a diesel! I've never driven a diesel! It's wide! I'm afraid I'll hit something!) so she skips over those parts.

It's not my bike I wish I had the money to buy it. I have wanted one for a long time and even with my broke back I would get it.

"broke back" should not be used in a response to "viarga" imo.
But maybe it's just me.

I know very well about broke back. But I may not speak for everyone else with a broke back, but for me, in that department, all is well. In fact, "THAT" is good back therapy for me. Hard to imagine I know, but its true. I'm would like to be the guy that has to seek to medical attention for maintaining "IT" for over 4 hours. If I maintained "IT" over 4 hours, you're dang right I'd be seeking medical attention. To get some more of it !!!

I have always like five star wheels so I would go with the first pictured wheels.
