| My .02 (or less) is there that one or two tools you said "if" on. I have most all tools I NEED(and I'm sure you have me beat Some I want doubles on so I always have one in the garage/house when I need it. Along with the vehicle I always add on to the tools that got me the work. One can never have to many toys er......I mean tools.! ![]()

| Oh yeah, there are a few of those, but I have a policy about tools that I try not to violate... The job has to justify the expense of the tool. For example, my last hardwood flooring job "justified" the expense of a third compressor, because I had guys working on two levels of the house stapling in strips, and a third guy replacing trim with a finish nailer. I could have run two staplers off one compressor, but would have then had to run hoses to the second level, a safety issue, and the finish nailer was set to a lower pressure. Another example would be the 12" sliding compound miter with rolling stand that was purchased a few years ago when replacing crown moldings in an 1858 plantation house restoration. I already had a 10", but the house was four stories and it was better to have two saws going at once. On this job there's nothing special I'm going to need (ceramic tile floor), so the g/f and I decided $2k can go to the vehicles.

| I fully concur on that. I would never have justified buying a new big tile saw if all I was doing was say an entry way etc. I think you have your $2,000 layed out pretty nice on the truck I guess my vote is with the others on the hulu dancer with the extra! I do like the rims you have your eye on though. Looks like you need to land another big job for them soon! ![]()

| Well, I think I'm going to skip the rims for now and go with what I've listed, plus the alternator and a new GPS to replace my 5" Cobra that recently died. Gonna go with a pro trucker model that's about $300, but will warn me about low clearances and weight limits.

TWICE!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!No excuses but it's funny if you don't ride around in a truck with extra height (like your's, a U-Haul etc.) you forget about clearance 'til you hear the scrape or SMASH!

| Yeah, well I know someone who drove it before I bought it had that problem because the top left corner of the box has a nice dent in it, and that's 3/8" steel. My old GPS didn't have it either, and there's one local road it kept trying to direct me down. No problem with the road itself, big problem with the 9' 6" clearance bridge that crosses it. The truck is 9' 10" to the top of the strobes... Good thing I actually read warning signs.

| My first was with the U-haul went to the job site I was layed off of to go get the rest of my stuff with the property's Chief Maintenance Engineer.(we were good buds) yapping with the gaurds and pulled into the "key faab" enterance WITH overhang ALL 4 of us 2 gaurds and us NOT thinking WACK!!!! I got the insurance which states THIS WILL NOT BE COVERED! Turned the truck in up here they wouldn't signoff with out somew one inspecteing it. Never heard back from them on further charges. ![]() Second time was Budget truck 30 days later to move from the rented condo(rest of my jobs fell through in Miami) scraped the top as I thought I had clearence. I was like 4 '' over to far and a half an inch to tall(no markings) No visable damage small paint exchange on roof. You are smarter so kudos. Like I said when you drive it enough you are mindful of your surroundings as a second nature. I like the sound of a GPS with height warnings!! Technology ROCKS!!

| Reminds me of something that happened at our old place. My g/f drives a Dakota with a high back cap. Clearance with it is right about 7 foot. Well, we were living in an apartment building with underground garages. The entrance to the garage was fine, 8 foot clearance, but once you got inside there was a point, and 15' inside the door, where there was a large air handler and evap unit hung from the ceiling. Clearance under that was exactly 6' 11 3/4" (I measured) and while I could get under it if I had the back loaded, with the truck empty it would scrape the cap badly. So, one day I'm coming home, hit the lock for the door and start to pull in, and here comes this lady in a big old Buick, right in my way. Well, I stopped and she stopped, then she starts waving at me to pull over and let her by, but I can't because of the air handler. So I motion at her that she has to back up, but she refuses and starts flicking her headlights at me. So I flicked mine back at her, then threw on the strobes for good measure (really bright high power units). So now we're blinking back and forth at each other, and she starts yelling out the window and honking her horn. So at this point I've about had it with this idiot, so I hit the air horns. Yeah, 128 decibel train horns on a 4 liter 200psi tank and compressor. I think they physically rocked her car back on the springs. Then I got out and walked over to her car (in the echoing silence) and told her I'd be happy to get out of her way (You didn't dare back out of that door, it went directly into 6 lanes of 45 mph traffic) if she'd just back the (bleep) up because my truck wouldn't fit under the machinery hanging from the ceiling. I said this rather loudly, and being as I'm 6' 2" and 210 I know I can be rather intimidating, and she looked at me, finally looked up at what she'd been trying to get me to pull under, looked at my truck, said "oh!" in a very, very meek little voice, then proceeded to burn rubber in reverse all the way to the other end of the 300' long garage! Where she waited until I pulled in, parked and got out of the truck. Then she waved very shyly at me and crept out of the garage doing about 10 mph.

| That's too funny! I like the air horn part. Nice touch. I'm sure the echo resonated for a while!I like to see the look on people's faces when they relize it's a big guy they are getting "smart" with(I'm 6'3" 260lbs) changes their attitude FAST! ![]() I'm probably like you are nice guy try to be curtious but SOME people just like to see how far they can go before I sound off. and yeah the second incident would have been different had I been loaded not empty.

| Yep, its nice being bigger at times. I am 6'2 250lbs. Size does intimidate or wake people up thankfully. I try not to be a bully, but if I have to, I sure will. I thought it was funny, recently at a 7-11, some dumb idiots were wanting to fight over a gas pump, apparently they thought they were before me. I am not even out of the car yet, and the " B " is yelling at me. He husband maybe just under 6ft, but skinny as a rail comes walking over to me with his chest bowed out as if he was tough. Then I got out of the car, the wife shut up and ran to get him and pull him away. Probably real funny when all I did was apologize and told the guy,I suggest he gets back in his car or he will miss the next pump too. I still think I was first, but I dang sure not getting into legal trouble over a butt beating over a gas pump.
