the last few posts reminded me of a problem ive been having: ive noticed that my size tends to attract trouble. when i go out to the bars around here, i'm usually much bigger than most of the other guys there. for some reason, every single time i've gone out, some guy has tried to pick a fight with me- totally unprovoked. i'm not grabbing their girls or bumping into em or giving dirty looks-nothing. im just minding my own business and having a good time with my buddies. now, im not interested in losing my job over a bar fight, or getting sued by some punk who thought he could beat me and miscalculated, but im starting to think that sooner or later, i'm going to have to thump one of these clowns to make it stop. i'm 6'5, 240 lbs, and my shoulders are just about as wide as a door frame. what is wrong with these chuckleheads? i wonder if its a small man syndrome, and they think that if they get in a fight with the biggest guy in the place, the ladies will somehow find them more appealing. i really dont know, but its extremely irritating. has this ever happened to any of you guys? im serious when i say it happens to me every single time!

No doubt, I hate the little man syndrome. Seem the smaller they are, the badder think they are and the more they bow their chest out. Apparently they do not realize how stupid they are. I also try to avoid violence at all costs, but I will only avoid it for so long. I have licenses I try to protect too, and violence without it being self defense is not acceptable, but then you have the his word against yours and all his buddies, so eaiser just to aviod it when possible, and hope if you do have to whip some tail, there are lots of non bias witnesses.

I'll totally agree standing 6'3" 280lbs. tends to attrack trouble. Definitely believe it is the little man syndrome. Like you said here McDukas

That is it exactly. Oh well I have been lucky and never had anything more serious than them mouthing off. I too try to avoid violence but like said before sometime some people need a good humbling, take them down a notch.

the other thing that worries me about getting into a scrap is you never know who might be carrying some kind of weapon these days. if its fist to fist thats fine, i'll hold my own (and if not, good for him, i'll take my beating and be done with it), but it would be just my luck to wind up bringing just my fists to a knife fight... or worse.

Big Ditto Lukas. I am exactly like that myself. I am not afraid of fist to fist, and can, will and have taken a couple losses and/or ties if you had to compare knots and bruises, but I sure don't like having to look over my shoulder all the time. Cuz even if they did not have thier knife or pow pow with them then, does not mean they won't go home and get it. I have gotten into brawls before and I do carry, thankfully, have never had to pull it and hope I don't. Sometimes people just get stupid when you serve them papers and they think you are the bad guy when you are just the messenger.

Is it just me, or it there some "little man syndrome" sneaking out in that
statement?

just trying to take up for the little man. these bigger guys always make fun of the avg and small guys right up until the little man beats the ever lovin snot out of the big 500lb gorilla. although size can make a differance, it does not always the outcome of a confrontation.

Not all bigger guys are stupid and know this. If anything, I know the little guy may very well have more experience than I do, since he has probably been picked on his whole childhood, teen and young adult days, and was in a few brawls just for survival mode. A bit like the Johnny Cash song, a boy named Sue. I wouldn't want to go to blows with a guy names Sue.
