| You know what this place needs? You know what this place needs? Besides a few more women and free beer? A reference forum. There's tons of good info here, but a lot of times it's buried somewhere in the middle of a thread, and the thread title might not have anything to do with the info. It would sure make it easier to find stuff if we had a central reference forum where charts, diagrams, schematics, etc. could be posted and then stickied or locked. That way, when someone comes on and needs to find something like the RPO list for GMs you could just direct them to the reference section, instead of trying to remember it was an attachment in a thread about trannies.

| we do have stickies. we also have tags but i dont believe very many people use them. i have found that threads that contain stuff that i know can be used in the future, can be added to my subscriptions without email notification. easy to find when someone asks about it. drawback is, there is about 20 subscriptions that i have in the forum. personally, i think this place needs is a few more rednecks. (great song) |

| Well, I do make it a habit to add tags to threads with useful info that don't already have them, and stickies do help, but most forums have a FAQ section, and something like that here could be called the reference section and really help out the newbies.

| this has come up in the past having a section donated to diagrams, how-to's and other related items. i cannot remember if the idea was shot down or waiting for the key man to upgrade us. |

| Don't think I wish to be upgraded by a key man. Are those the new terms for it ? |

| if you want to pm the links to good threads, we can put a sticky in the general truck forum with links to approved threads. we can lock it so only mods can update the post and keep it from going off topic. the horse and dog side do this.

| Hmmm... I'll have to think about that Mud. Sometimes that "good info" is buried pretty deep in a thread, so a link that takes you to page one might not be so hot if the good stuff is on page six.

| yeah, that all would be great. ME of all people, just realized I need to brush up on my windows skills. I am trying to screen print, or screen snapshot of 3 .pdf pages from a 2003 Avalanche owners manual for the guy needing instrustions to program his door locks, and I for the life of me, can not remember how to do it, and its frustrating the $&#@ out of me.
