Maurice is on a distinguished road
parts stores

Why is it parts stores stock one of a part that you need two of part of an assembly? I went to three parts stores today trying to find an oil pump pick up screen for a small block chevy .they all had oil pumps but no pick up screens.does this happen any where else?

absolutely. dodge wont sell you the fuel filter without buying the whole pump assembly. neither will any of the auto parts stores.

Oh yeah... Like when you need a pair of mirrors and they only stock one, or they only have 7 of the plugs you need for your V8

What really gets me is when things in a store aren't laid out logically, so stuff that should be together is together. To give an example, my local Home Depot... Bags of cement are at one end of the store, in the outdoor garden section. Cement tools however, like trowels, etc., are on the complete opposite end of the store, near the drywall. Funny, I can't remember the last time I used a bull float on drywall... but that's where they are.

it's called impulse buying. walk the store to get what you need and walk out with 10 things you don't need.

Yeah, and it's also called "ticking off your professional customers, who spend a heck of a lot of money here, every day, and who don't like to waste time walking all over the store"

Don't forget Wal-mart. They purposely reset the store. They were resetting one time I went in awhile back and was told it's a marketing thing(as stated above) to get you looking where something WAS and you might just buy it while looking for the original item.

and I agree with you Brad on the REDICULOUS questions. I wish I could keep a strait face and throw them a curve ball like "Oh and I just waxed it using _________ brand wax" or "I have 4 tires they turn in the same direction MOST of the time but I'm not sure they're aired to the proper PSI. Does that matter?"
