I think that the above statement is childish and uncalled for.

gmc vs chevy

historicly they were very different
gmc was a heavy truck originally named reliant and rapid
chevrolet was developed before it merged with gm as a lighter truck
also a light truck pontiac was renamed gmc, kinda funny, i can imagine all of us touting our professional grade pontiac trucks. haha. somewhere along the line they got merged and it is for all intents and purposes the same. only thing left is the styling bits which i tend to prefer the ponti--er gmc

this has happed alot in corperate history, but it shows how powerful brand names are since they hold on to those old names but homoginize the product. aren't we a bunch of suckers? can you think of other examples?

black and decker/ dewalt
exxon/ mobil
carrier/ bryant
firestone/bridgestone

You know, with this being said are the prices the same too?

of course you know a lot of lexus cars are camry frame and drivetrain

the volvo s40 old style was a mazda frame

the great chevy duramax is really a isuzu

the ****** h2 is a chevy drivetrain 6.0L

many of the original jeeps were made by ford huh?

goodyear and bfgoodrich are the same

pirelli and mezler are the same

tide and surf detergent are the same

and all those appliances are made by some dudes in china..

even the great craftsman is no longer made by dahaner tools-- the are some cheaper thing now...but now kobalt is made by dahaner tools

god knows who all makes what in computers and they just stick different names on them to make it a brand.

by the way if i am wrong somewhere please correct me. they change all the time anyway..

That an old wives tale, They were always the same truck .Came from the same line of parts. This was a GMC guy trying to boost his truck that started this. Either way they are now and have always been the same thing.

Usually GMC offers more creature comforts than Chevy for the same price. And alot of the Heavy duty rigs are offered with more options in GMC than in Chevy!
