my folks have always been chevy/gm people...and I have always been under the impression that the difference between the two brand names is their option packages are different, otherwise they start out the same.

I believe this. I also believe that Cain (the one that killed his brother Abel) is/was/would have been a Ford guy.

I met a guy once who said that he will never buy a Dodge Neon over a Plymouth Neon! I was baffeled because they were in fact the exact same car, just different emblems, so I asked him why. He said he liked and trusted the name Plymouth more then he trusted Dodge. It turned into a huge debate since there was no difference, they were both the same company. but the long and the short of it is that had Plymouth never made the car, he would have never bought it.

I gues what i was trying to say, is in light of some small cosmetic differences, maybe it is just a matter or preference. And even though they are the same truck, perhaps GM figures that there are some people who will use their product but will never buy the bowtie, so why not create a whole line of trucks just for them. And if I remember corectly, some years back, GMC actually out sold Chevy, even though they are the same.

Just a thought.
