Carb Info? I was thinking about gettin one of those Holley Truck Avenger carbs. I dont really know much about carbs, so if I could get some input, that'd be apprieciated. I've got a rochester quadrajet that needs to be rebuilt or replaced, should i go with gettin a new carb, gettin a remanufactured carb, or get my carb rebuilt. Thanks

GBM, if you could, tell us what kind of vehicle you would like to put this little gem on. Also, I am a big fan of the Q-jets. Build them right (have it done by a reputable shop) and you can get the power you need and better gas mileage than a Holley. Good luck.

Please help us help you. 4X2 or 4X4? 225 slant 6 or 440 Magnum, maybe something in between? Automatic trans or manual? Daily driver or race truck?

Its a 4x4, 360, manual. Right now its not race, or street, but barn bound I checked the VIN # and the truck was supposed to be a 6cylinder, and the guy i bought it off of said it was a 360.

Don't send it to the barn yet... those we're cool lookin' trucks. That said, seeing what you have I would personally go with the q-jet. Good luck.

I had someone tell me that the Edelbrock carbs are much better than Holleys, claiming that Holleys make your vehicle very cold blooded, give you worse gas millage, and have more problems. I dont really know about that though. I know the double barrel that was on our chevette was good. The only thing I dont like about some of the Holleys is the float bowls, if the gasket on them gets bad you could spill out a whole bowl full of gas on your engine. I have always prefered carbs with the bowl gasket around the top instead of across the top, down the side and across the bottom. I dont like quadrajetts though.

| If you dont like quadrajets then dont buy an Edelbrock. Holleys are my favorite, Simple to tune easy to work on and great performers. I cant say enough good about a holley. If you look at the newer series holleys they have top float bowl gaskets like you want. I am not bad mouthing carter or edelbrock, But i have removed several of each to replace it with a holley. i tune them right and get great performance and appropriate fuel mileage.
