which rim is wide enough?

i have 38.5x14.5-16.5 thornbirds on some 16.5x10 centerlines and i want to get some new rims cuz the tire do expand beyond sides of the rim some and i want to know if i should go with some 12s or 14s

Look at the manufacturers recommendations for that tire width. thats the safest bet. You shouldnt use 14s because of the sidewall,The tire is only 14.5 But you will find this when you check with the tire manufacturer
