acetone as a fuel additive

I know, it sounds crazy, but read this: http://www.pureenergysystems.com/new...00069_Acetone/

I tried this in my s10 i used to own, and i did notice an increase in mileage. Does anyone have any input as to what kind of damage it could possibly cause, or experience with it over a long period of time? I have not tried it in my toyota yet but i probably will.

i think they actually did this on mythbusters and i believe it was busted.... i actually think acetone is already an additive in the gas that we use. and for the amount of time that gasoline has been being made/refined, i think they would know the right amount of it to put in, so i doubt it works

this topic has been beat to death. If you got better mileage its because you drove differently. not because you used Acetone in the fuel. Dont believe everything you hear. It has been proven many times to be a hoax. Best way to improve mileage is a tuned engine and good driving habits. i keep the engine tuned, but the driving habits are a real killer for me.

yip^^^

if it did increase mileage, i would dedicate it to possibly cleaning your injectors or something, but to a perfectly tuned engine......no...

If it was a proven performer, dont you think the fuel addative people would be on board with it by now?

there are so many of those additives out there, i cant keep up with half of them. a guy was telling me the other day that he was buying pills that you popped into your gas tank until some government aga\ency shut the company down. when i hear things like that about an additive, i half way believe that it might really work that good. haha
