Why can you tow more with a fifth-wheel or gooseneck, then you an with a conventional hitch?

because of where the weight is set relative to the wheelbase of your truck.

If you can keep the 6.0 running long enough.

Look at the GM kodiak series truck. biggest and best out there. I will see if I can find a pic.

No. You'd be crazy to try it. If you are going to be pulling that much weight you'll need a gooseneck/fifth wheel.

physically i'm sure you could put 10tons on your regular hitch and pull it. how far? not very... how safe? not safe at all... how many problems would it cause your truck? probably quite a few

I had an old dodge with a 318 that i pulled 8 tons for several miles, off the ball on the bumper.... the truck could do it, the frame handled it the brakes didn't. i wouldn't do it again.....

If it is a once in a blue moon thing for a mile or two, you might be okay, however, if you plan to pull ten tons on a regular basis, get the fith wheel, and save yourself the headache.
