Cool 2002 Gmc 1500hd 4 Wd.. Queastion?

Hi All...
I Recently Bought A Very Clean Well Kept, 2002 Gmc 1500hd, Pickup. Of Course The Owners Manual Was Not Included, So, My Question Is: do I Have To Stop This Truck To Engage/ Disengage The 4 Wd, Or Is It A " Shift On The Fly" ????????

LOOKS LIKE NOBODY KNOWS THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE...

All 4 wd's will "Shift on the fly from 2wd to 4wd high.
You do not have locking hubs, so having to get aout of the truck is not necessary.
You will have to stop completely to engage and disengange low range.

Just a sugestion, a very slow roll when shiftin into 4 HI, they recomend no faster than like 15 mph or sumthin, 4 lo however the trans has to be in N in order to get it to engage... personally I always come to a complete stop just incase in my truck, Ive broke a few IFS vacume locks engagin on the fly

Oh btw dont know where you are located but when its really cold the light will blink for a little bit, GM in the infinate wisdom they have haha went away from the solid axle in '88, the IFS uses either a vacume lock or a heat lock to lock in the front diff. Depends on what year the truck is an they have gone back an forth on it a few times..... hope this helps man. Congrats on the new truck
