92 5.7 350 spark problem I have a 1992 GMC sierra 1500 with a 5.7 350 with 222,000 miles. The engine has been rebuilt. I have not had any problems with this truck at all until the other day I pressure washed the engine. As soon as I pressured washed it I started to have problems with spark. At first I thought I just got moisture into the pickup strator, so I took off the cap and sprayed wd-40 inside it and wiped it up. The truck started and drove for a couple days. Then it quit with spark again. I figured it was the ignition module so I changed it. It started right up and I thought I had it fixed but then I turned it off and it didn't start again. I then got a spark tester and tested it at the spark plugs. I didn't have spark. But testing it at the coil I have excellent spark. I talked with a friend and he said replace the cap and rotor and that should be it. The cap was only 1000 miles old, but I did what he said and now I have spark at both the plugs and coil but it still will not start. I have fuel I can see it coming out of the injectors. Is it possible I don't have enough spark? The wires, plugs, cap, rotor, ignition module, are all new. Also the only thing left to replace is the coil, and the distributor itself. Also I belive I have the plug wires routed right, I changed them one at a time when I switched the caps, but even if I didn't. Would it still start, just run really bad. It doesn't even seem to want to fire at all. Opening up the distributor the rotor does turn inside when you crank it. The only code I have right now is 21 which is TPS voltage high, which I know I need to replace it. But that should cause this. Any help would be appreciated. Steve

wondering if spark plug wires are on wrong I'm starting to wonder if I didn't screw up the oder of the spark plug wires when I put them back on. How can I tell how to put them back on correctly. The only manual I have is a haynes and it sucks. It doesn't show which one is number 1. Thanks! Steve

the number 1 cylinder is on the very front , driver side of the engine , furthest away from the fire wall .... the right side is a 1357 bank of cylinders , and the passenger side is the 2468 bank .... the go in that order from the front to the back ( rad to fire wall direction) ...i believe th efiring order is 18436572......sounds like u might not be on top dead centre .... maker sure you start your # 1 wire , on the terminal that the rotor is pointing at ..it sholld point torward the # 1 cylinder ...uasually .... if it the balancer mark lines up at zero but the rotor is pointing at the fire wall , u r on the exhaust stroke..... ..i hope i might have been a help to u ...happie trucking
