nobody else wants to play the guessing game? ok i'll tell you what it was.
Alldata was leading me towards a faulty VCM and that almost made me burn my truck on the way home, while stuck in third gear the whole time. i did a little web searching and found numerous people with the same problems, codes and their solution was a new ignition switch. seemed odd but i figured it was cheaper than a new VCM. after looking for tools to do the job (female torx bit), the job was done 4 hours later after a lot of cursing and splicing the remote starter in to the new ignition switch harness. i do not look forward to doing that again.

What actually was wrong with the switch? Which contact we talking ?
And I'm gonna have to insist about the vss buffer....

didn't test it. temper got the best of me and i chopped it up and yanked it out.

being 20* outside didn't help me much either. codes are gone for the moment and shifts through all the gears fine now. gauges are back too!
