83 gmc wont start well i went out to start my truck and it started to turn over then it just stoped i checked the starter and that is good im thinking its the sensor for when you push the clutch down so does anyone know how to check that to see if its bad? or any other idea of what it could be

When that happened to me it turned out to be a corroded battrey post. Just enough power to turn the motor over twice and then nothing.

I suggest you start with the key, making sure that's putting out the signal for the clutch switch. Believe it's the yellow wire. Then check if switch is receiving that signal and closing by checking the voltage at both sides. Purple should be output. There is a third wire (green and white) which goes to your manual tranny and is connected with the yellow (key) wire. Purple heads through firewall via eng harness connector and on to starter solenoid. Should be able to check voltage at each of the points to see where failing if that is the problem. Check that the switch is properly adjusted for pedal travel, so you know it's not failing because of poor mechanical contact. With key off, you could ohm the switch looking for open and short while operating it by hand. Simplest check: does system voltage drop when you try to crank ? If it does, circuit is probably ok from key to switch to solenoid, and starter/solenoid/wire connections become suspect.

Glad you got it. Those switches go out just often enough to make them worth checking early in the process.
