| Just had to get this off my chest, I blew my 5.7l engine in my 95 K2500 during Thanksgiving. I ended up buying a brand new 5.7 long block from chevy for $1800.00 The repair shop just finshed, now I have a $5060.00 bill. They replaced everthing but my frame and body. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry just had to vent, no one else will listen. I will give you a run down of the work they did when I pick it up. To pissed off to go near the place!! Oh I forgot I wanbted them to replace the window regulator andd put in a new inner door handle, they didn't they blocked the window up and left the door shell in the bed, now I need new speakers. They sald it was cheaper to buy a new door for $250.00 then the labor to install the 2 parts that don't even total a hundred bucks. My *** was $#%^ dry!!!!!!!!!! On the plus side if you need a new engine here is the site, best prices I could find. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/

| jumper, As Pres. Clinton used to say, "I feel your pain". I understand everything above "They said it was cheaper to buy a new door for $250..." Did they mean go out and find a used door the same color with matching interior door panel in the same color as the one you already have? All the used door panels I've found in the bone yards are as trashed as the ones I already have. JC Whitney has door panels for the C/K model starting at $60 for a pair. That beats trying to find one in good shape that matches the one you have. Hope that helps. Merry Christmas. papa1 |

| And the only reason I did not do this myself was lack of time and space, and having to track down an engine lift. I am going to get an item by item bill showing all new parts. I knew this was BS. Only good thing is the engine has a 100k warenty on it

| i don't think anyone is flaming you for not doing it yourself, i understand not having the time or space. i need to replace the engine in my truck also, i just can't find a time period long enough to do it and can't afford a shop's rate. what was actually wrong with the engine?
