4x4 issue

99 gmc sierra 1500. k four wheel drive engages sometimes. In times that it won't the front driveline does spin. Have replaced the actuator. Typically it will engage then I will get a thunk and it kicks out. Anyone familiar with these diffs and how the actuator works mechanically into the diff or know of possible issues that could cause this. thanks.

it is the push button style with auto four wheel. I really can't see myself having a nice lifted 2wd drive truck so I will pass on dealing with it.

jimbo543 has a spectacular aura aboutjimbo543 has a spectacular aura about
if it has high miles it could be the nub/pin broken on the end of the right axle, the engagement gear rides on it, if broken shaft wobbles causing erratic engagement
