Unhappy Dead GMC

Hey all have a small problem, I have a 1994 GMC with a 350 auto trans. Was out this evening picking up a pizza and as I was getting ready to leave the pizza place my truck started to die, now its dead. It will turn over good so no battery problem, getting fuel to, but no spark. I have no spark on number 1 plug nor do I have spark from the coil to the dist, or from the dist to the coil. Anyone with any ideas on what killed my truck?

replace coil and/or distributor.

you mentioned started to die. what exactly happened from noticing it different until it died? hestitation? spark knock? no power, missing?

every detail you can think of, how much throttle, engine rpms. did it go like it should when you gave it gas, etc.

Nothing different it just lost power. No Knocking or jerking,it was like someone turned off the switch. Up until then it was running and starting fine, had shut it off a couple of times before she died to run into a couple of places, started right back up each time.

might want to swap out the pick up coil. I would definitly check wires for corrosion.

Is there another major ignition component? A Ford of this vintage has 3 major components any of which will act in this manner, ie the coil, the pickup coil inside the distributor (the two of which you have replaced) but also the ignition module(on the Ford). Does anybody have a Haynes or other manual to show the layout of the GM ignition system? Sorry if I offended anyone here with that four letter word.

I had a problem with my 95 GMC , it would die and have no spark. It was sperattic , it turned out to be the ignition switch. The ignition switch is in the column behind the key. The connections to it tend to break.

Ok have replaced ign coil, dist cap wires were good. Truck started up ran for about forty five mins, shut it off until the next day she started up again back it out the drive way and bam she died wouldnt start she tried to but wouldnt, so here I'am with my son in the pouring rain pushing this beast back up in the drive. Whats a person to do now? Thinking of shooting it.
