| Hi, new to the forum but have a question, I have a 01 siera 1500 & I am planning to have the trans flushed & want to go back with synthetic oil. Do any of you use it? pro's & con's? I have been using mobile 1 full sync in the engine since it was new, no problems. Thanks |

| I use nothing but Full Synthetic motor oil. I swear by it. It lasts longer, and lubricates better. A lot of guys may disagree, however, I have seen it both ways. There is one draw back though..... Once you make the switch to full synthetic, you cannot go back. I mean you can..... you just need to flush it. At least this is what I have heard... I never switched back, So I am not 100% there...... My opinion, good choice. I use Havoline but Mobil 1 is a good brand too.

| the factory trans fluid is dextron 6 i think now, gm training instructor says "dextron 6 is as close to synthetic as possible without the synthetic drawback" he never told us the drawback, thinking maybe cost? i would only use dextron in your trans and follow service recommendations. i use synthetic in engine; mobil 1 strongly and i mean strongly recommend synthetic in front/rear differentials. i use mopar 75w140 in everything i own, alot of people use 75w90, untill i'm thinking 05 gm used synthetic in rear(75w90) and conventional in front(80w90) and 05 i think they put synthetic in front diffs on 3/4 and up cause the bigger front diffs have a pinion bearing lube problem that synthetic fluid fixed |
