| 1992 Gmc I have a 1992 GMC with 370000 miles on it, now that may be my first problem but here is my question. I went out this morning, locked it in four wheel drive and took off up the road. All of the sudden it kicked out of four wheel... I stopped and pulled the fuse and sure enough it was blown. I've placed two more fuses in and they blow as soon as I pull the shifter in to 4X4. Anyone have any ideas on where I can start looking for this electrical problem?? I have heard some people having trouble with the sensor that tells you when its in 4 wheel drive going bad. So I may try unhooking that and see what it does... I can't really go anywhere till this gets fixed as we just got about 16" of snow here in Ohio. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks Hiller |

| Welcome to the forum bud; Sounds like either a bad actuator or a grounded wire. I would look at the wires first and see if any spot of the insulation has warn off and it touching metal. Sometimes just a visual inspection can find simple problems. how hard did you take off in 4wd? And I have to say WOW 370k? Should post that in the famous chevy vs ford argument.... I mean how many Fords are out there with those kind of miles? LOL.

| Hey thanks for the quik reply... I did some trouble shooting by unhooking all of the wiring on the 4x4... I then one by one plugged them back in until the fuse blew... so I was able to pin point it one the actuator in the diff. So I took it out and hooked it up to a battery to see if it worked. Luckily it just sat there and smoked, so I knew right away that it was the actuator. 90$ later and I am back up and running... Thanks again for the help Hiller |

| on a truck with those kind of miles, I would guess a junk yard, even getting one from a truck with 150k is practically brand new compared to his....LOL. So pending his answer, that would be my guess.
