I am unsure about this question..... why would you want traction control off? Much less, I did not know they even had traction control..... only on the 2wd's?

If there is a traction control system, there should be a button. o3shortbed, where is your button? that might help him look for it.

Then perhaps either you cannot shut it off, or it is not there. Listen to my reasoning. I sell new cars for a living. Primarily Suzuki's, however, we do sell Toyotas and Scions. I can sell Chevys, but rarely do. The chevy dealership is on the otherside of the city. I can check with them tomorrow. However, here is where I am going with this. Almost every model we sell has either an eletronic stability control, or a traction control system. However, only a handfull have a button to shut the system off. Most of them however, it is always there, and working on its own. If your truck does have it, you may not be able to shut it off, however, there is also the possibility you do not have it. Like I mentioned, I will call up to chevy tomorrow and double check this, however, does this make sense? I mean perhaps someone else here knows this.... but till then, I will see what I can find out for ya bud.

ok, thank you. whenever i start to slip a tire there is a traction control light that does come on in the gauge cluster. Since i do not have the button is there a possibility that i could have one installed into my truck?

Are you looking to do this so you can peel out ?
Seems like lag would not be Stability related.
A button could probably be wired to simulate being in 4wd
but that would effect other things as well I'd guess.
Usually these are closely wired to the ABS system.

By the way "Traction Control" is a marketing name only
and is used by BMW, Cadillac, Lexus, Mitsubishi, and Volvo.
GM uses the name StabiliTrak. Same difference.
