3/4 ton suspension

i have an 01 gmc sierra 1500 that i like alot, but i want to put an 8 ft plow on the front for winter time to make a little cash on the side. i want to know if theres a way to swap 3/4 ton suspension in the front or if there is a way to beef up the stock suspension so it doesnt squat so bad in the front. dont really have the money to sell it and buy a better truck. anyone done this? any input is really appreciated. thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum:
Where I used to live, justs about every other truck had a plow on it. I have seen a lot of those 1/2 ton trucks with them and I know what you mean about "squating" ... lol .... However, the cost to swap in the 3/4 ton suspension is not wallet friendly. What I have seen some guys do is add a turn to the torsion bar screws to lift the front end when the plow is on, but this can be hard on the front end. Heavy duty shocks would also help, but ride quality in the summer will suffer. My suggestion is in addition to the plow, add a sander in the bed. It will add to what you can make being able to drop sand and salt down after a bad storm, and help keep traction on the rear wheels. Plus can be removed in the summer so you could have your truck back. But that would be me.

Just a thought remember how the frames were bending without the special frame package on the 1500 What years were they? worth looking into

You can with airbags, but when plowing you will tend to abuse the cr^p out of the front end, with the frame and suspension, and those air bags do not always stand the test of durability for this application.
