Okay I checked for any leaks, but now when I am on the highway for a while and exit when I depress the clutch it will rev to 3000 rpm and not come down, could it be the throttle position sensor? I thought when they go out it wont rev at all. I dont know but this is getting very annoying, has anyone ever had these symptons? By the way in case you didnt read the earlier post 2wd 2000 gmc 454 5 speed towing package reg cab about 260,000 miles mostly highway.

the only possible thing it can be is something with the throttle plate, these *DO* have idle air controls but no manifold pressure sensors, have you had the throttle body right off? and did you check your cable? plus your cruise control cable may possibly be causing this, a vacuum leak on this particular engine won`t give a raised idle, it will idle poorly or not at all.

i would unhook your cables at the throttle body and see if you can move them easily, and remove air tube and check that the srews (2) are through the throttle plate onto the shaft, they could be loose, open throttle and see if it is gummy in there...

letme know what you found... Have you posted about this before? seems very familiar,

problem fixed

Well here is what I did after reading a few other posts, Unplugged what i think si the IAC it is just above the throttle position sensor, problem solved so i will be replacing whatever this item is and will be letting you know. P.S. the engine light has not came on or been on this whole time. P.S.S autozone actually lists an IAC for this truck.
