New Truck
Can anyone tell me about good or bad things you have experienced with a 1997 GMC 1500 extended cab short box, with the 350 in it? Im looking to get a new truck and I found this one 140,000 on it, the guys wife is making him "go green" and trade in his pickup for a Honda somethin or another haha his loss! Nice tires, clean everything, no rust anywhere, everything works except for the tailgate, just had a new fuel pump put in it, he wants 3900 but the wife wants it gone and said she wouldnt mind taking 3000 Its a steal, I just dont know if anyone can think of something that might be wrong with it since Kelley Blue Book says it could possibly sell for up to 7000

wow for 3000 that puppy would be in my driveway... I had a 97 chevy ext cab short box with the 350. had 140000 on it when I sold it and it still ran great! only thing I ever replaced on the truck was the altenator, and charged the AC just before selling.. If they can prove good maintainance records and the fluids etc.. looked good I would go for it!

let me know when you feel like fixing the tailgate and i'll get some pics of how i fixed mine. i haven't had a problem with it since, it even closes better than the new trucks.

hte only issues i forsee are possibly the fuel pump (just replaced as you mentioned) the alternator may have issues.... sometimes the o2 sensors on these engines go crazy. and issues with the cooling system (intake makifold gasket, and water pump mainly) other than that shouldnt be any problems.... you may break the door handles both inside and out. on mine and my dads (96&99) we've run through a ton of handles for some reason

way to tell me all of that after I buy it Caminokid haha
Ill get some pictures up tomorrow, I already know Im gonna swap out the mirrors from the old truck to this one and the tires, hopefully everything fits have to look into that tomorrow, I guess the only thing I will really miss is the noise the old one makes chugging down the road this one is so quiet may have to do an exhaust on it to make me happier ![]()
