02 Sierra 1500HD towing

Hello,

I am planning on using my brother's 02 GMC Sierra 1500HD truck to tow my travel trailer (approximate 3600-4000#). I believe the truck has a tow capacity of about 10K pound. The truck has a 7 pin connector and a hitch. I will need to add a brake controller. Does the truck come with a tranny cooler or do I need to add one in? Anyone have a step by step instruction on how to install one? I have installed an after market tranny cooler in my Acura MDX.

my uncle has a 02 chevy 1500 sil. and he tows a 25 foot camper with no problems. and he had to add the trailer brake to his truck. i'm not for sure that it does or does not come with a tranny cooler but if you look through the grill you should be able to see if it has one. if not then you can add one just like you did with your acura it's goes on the same way

these trucks came with tranny coolers.

you may also need the 3 into 2 adapter for the lights because of the 3rd brake light
