water leak After driving 60 miles and parking, I notice a puddle of water under the truck, under the radiator overflow container. It is clear liquid and not from the radiator or the overflow. The level in the radiator is normal. Also, I wasn't running the AC. Any ideas?? Thanks

most likely condensate from expension canister. even if you do not run a/c, canister is very cold and has tendency to collect humidity on it. check all fluid levels, and if everythings checks out fine - just let it be. you see, now you know why they make all those colors for all those fluids, he-he.

Did you happen to have the controls on defrost? The air condioner will run when set on defrost. This is done so everything in the system is kept lubricated when not being used.

Thanks for the replies. I do have the defrost on, set all the way to the left, no heat. I'll keep an eye on it.

to defrost or to "windows or windows/floor"? defrost turns heating element on(and is a seperate button on the dash. won't do much if blower is not turned on. confusingly enough, logos are the same for either. a/c simply hastens moisture removal from the cabin air/windows. but yes, a/c needs to be run once a month for short time to prevent clogging. | |

If your defrost is ON, that is definatly your issue. As said above its for lubrication purposes, but so that your compressor runs some in the winter months and not to seize for non use, and you WILL be using your defroster, the defroster will turn on the AC compressor. Normal in all cars manufactured for quite some time now that I am aware of. I am a bit suprised though, if your defrost was on, and you have it set to NO heat on the cool setting, you did not get a little fog on windshield too.
