| a regular code reader will not retrieve the codes for tha air bag, you will need to put it on a scan tool to find your problem. a code reader can only access powertrain codes and is even limited when it comes to that. good luck on the trouble shooting.

| ^ what mud said and i don`t recommend searching out a fix yourself for an airbag problem, get a certified mechanic/dealer on it cause there is the potential for deployment accidentally which is an experience you don`t want to know....... In trade school we deployed some bags outside once, we put a ball cap on top of it and set it off, the hat went nearly three stories in the air and the airbag itself went ten feet, when the hat landed it was shredded like it went through a blender!! so i imagine it could freakin hurt!! OH YEAH and it also sounds like a CANNON going off!! SAFTEY FIRST!!

| Thanks so much for all your help. hubbys is a certified mechanic has class a and truck and coach but doesnt have updated reader chips. the dealer that we bought the truck off of offered to put it on the diagnositic machine so i think that would be best . your right i dont want the deploying as i have a latex allergy . gm wont remove bag and the powder on the bag has latex protien either way for me it wont matter if the thing goes off iam likely to die from emphalitic shock long before the crash kills me lol but hubby will be safe. thanks so much everyone. will do the diagnostic and then go from there. these new trucks and cars you really have to keep up to date with everything . so much has changed . thanks again. katt |

| At one time I had heard some talk of what you are talking about katt. With Dr's orders, GM should disable the airbags for you. If I recall correctly since it has been so long ago, this is like a state law in CA and your title is also jacked with the airbag altered stuff and it can hurt the value of your vehicle, but nevertheless, your health and life is spared. |
