92 a/c problems

I have a problem with my a/c. The clutch will engage and then engage again. It repeats this but will not stay engaged. Can I just replace the clutch or does the whole compressor need replaced?

check the wire from the pressure switch from the dryer sometimes they break connection and keep cycling the clutch

I agree check sight glass for bubbles first, or place gauges on it to know for sure.
