| 95 Sierra rear brake line The metal line on the rear drivers side of my truck has rusted & has a hole in it. It is the one that runs along the frame rail. Any tips on changing it out? I've never flared a line before, but I don't want to pay a shop either. I know they will be expensive. Thanks in advance |

| flaring a line is not very hard but it does take practice. i would suggest you buy some extra line to practice on (make sure you make them a double flare or it will leak). you may be lucky and be able to buy a whole section, so all you need to do is undo the fittings and reconnect. either way make sure you cut back to a good section of line and not just the little bit that is leaking.

| Welcome to the forum As mudseeker says a little practice and you can do it! If you are going to tackle it I would recommend changing the complete line to both rear, and check the front, probably getting bad. They make a soft brake line similar to soft copper that makes bending much easier, but a little more money. Last quote I seen was 125 per wheel for line replacement. If you do it yourself flush the line with fresh fluid while you are at it. |

I replaced all of mine from the front when I replaced my gas tank. I think it's kind of tight if the tank is still in place but not sure on the 95 trucks. I didn't flare any of the lines - I found lines that were different sizes and planned it out so they all fit. One line was too long and I just put an extra bend in it in the shape of a "U" so it would fit. The brake lines were pretty rusty behind the gas tank and the fuel lines also started to rust so I replaced those as well. Personally I'd avoid flaring the lines if you can avoid it but that's my personal preference.

| Thanks guys. I'm going to replace the entire piece from fitting to fitting. It's only about 3 feet. I'll see if I can find the soft line. |
