trans temp gauge

I have a 1999 gmc sierra z71 1500 with 5.3. I was wondering if I could take the gauge cluster out of a 1500hd or 2500 and have a functioning trans temp gauge. Any help would be appreciated

way cheaper just to buy a single gauge and a pillar pod, plus you KNOW it will work...

it would be easier to do as stump said, that's how i have mine hooked up.
plus, i don't think the wires are there for the gauge cluster, so you would have to run the wire.

Does your dash display oil temp?

If so go buy an oil temp sender just like the one that operates the gauge on your dash already.

Take it to a plumbing supply store and get a fitting that fits the gauge.

Install the fitting to the oil pan on the tranny.

Wire both the oil temp sensor from the engine and the oil temp sensor from the tranny to a switch that you can mount inside the cab, in the center console for example.

Now when you want to see the oil temp flip the switch to oil when you want to see tranny temp flip the switch to tranny.

Thanks for the information guys. I've been looking around on the internet and have found several places thay say the 99 and up trucks are already setup for the trans gauge. I found a web site that sells escalade cluster that they say will bolt in and go to work. I really do appreciate the ideas.
