not really nothing not to expect with a high mileage engine mud... The only reason mine looks clean on top is because I pressure wash it every now and then..

Glad you got a good deal on the parts though!

so far? $360.07 in the gasket set, new wrench for coolant line and upgraded fuel injectors. still need to buy some coolant and do an oil change. if i'm Lucky $400 total.

had my sister take me to work so i could use the parts washer. i ended up plugging it up with all the junk in the intake runners. a little bit of carb cleaner and i can put the lower intake back on.

still waiting on the injectors. in the mean time though, i managed to pull the threads on one of the thermostat housing bolts must have happened when i was trying not to break the ground wire they had attached to it during removal. time to get some helicoils and check on the status of the injectors.

Are you running a 195 thermostat? Changing the oil hot? Do you use quaker state(known for residue)?

honestly couldn't tell you the thermostat temp. it was changed when i had the radiator rebuilt and don't remember what the guy put in, probably OEM.
i try not to change the oil when it is hot. i like to have as much as i can in the pan when i change it.
i run Valvoline MaxLife semi-synthetic.

i have only had the truck 30,000 out of the 204,000 miles, so who knows how the truck was treated.

If you change the oil hot it gets more of the garbage out of the system, as for getting more out, pull the plug and filter go have 2 beers and it will be drained better than if you do it cold.
