| see if they offer a pre-filter you can put over the filter. either foam or the bag type you tie over it.

| Pantyhose...(seriously) , but I don't like the pre filters. I have an AFE StageII filter in my rig and the prefilter would get clogged way to often. I had to clean the prefilter probably 4 times in 10000 miles. Have since taken if off and although the actual filter looks dirty it has still lasted me over 10000 w/o the pre filter miles w/o cleaning and still flowing freely (according to the filter gauge)

| If it is from volant, didn't it come with a box option? Once installed, it should be only open to the grill, and therefore less of a hust magenet. Like the attached pic. Also, those filters are 100% cleanable, so even if after a run in the dunes it is dirty, it can be cleaned up for repeated use. One of the nice added benefits of these style intakes... JMO

| I carry a completely new filter for my dune vehicles. I also pre-filter with a K&N pre filter, and carry extras of those too. All of my rides (dune vehicles) have a spare filter in the toy hauler. Sand is bad, real bad, and sand will get by pantyhose. Pantyhose is alright for large particles, but for the fine stuff, it is not very good at all. Even dry filters start to fall short in this dept. Foam pre-filters seem to be pretty good. |
