| While ball joints can be a fun project, having the right tools for the job are a must. This will make the difference betwween a quick job, and one that you will not want to do again. If you tackle this at home, air tools are nice, and some do not have a good source of air, or air tools like a shop would have. Also having a ball joint press is also going to be a plus. If it were me, and you have access to a shop, I would perform the work in the comfort of a shop. Doing work at home is always a pleasure, but the convenience of having a shop gets my vote all day long. |

| I agree with the above stated. Having the right tools is the way to go. The first time I did it, I swore I would never do it again! But recently, I attempted it again at a buddies garage, and it turns out, it was not so terrible... so prepare for it....LOL...

| did you press ball joint out? haynes says that's what needs to be done, thus control arms must be removed and press used to remove ball joint. share with us. as of truck being wabbly, i just went through "death wobble" and it was not ball joints, was idler arm and driver side hub bearing. hope your job done fixed it, but i doubt. matter of fact, wobble started coming back on my truck, and i had it lifted today. we checked out everything underneath. this time it's tie-rods. that's fun project, cuz now i have to replace the whole entire relay rod, as tie-rods are integral part of it. will replace tie-rod ends same time. |
