By comparisson, these chevy 1/2 ton 2wd parts are almost free.
New complete hub / rotor assembly is about 50 bucks, and I believe that this comes with bearings and seals. If it does not, then the bearings are less than 10 bucks, and the seals are about 3 bucks.
Pads are as little as 16 dollars for semi metalic. Limited lifetime warranty means this is a bargain.
Lets go off of the deep end here, and say that it will run 100 dollars per side. Consider consumables, like rags, brake cleaner, grease to pack the bearings, hand cleaner, and the celebratory adult beverages. Throw in a pizza, and bam! 100 bucks per side.
You will have 200 bucks total, and the satisfaction of having brand new rotors, brand new brakes, brand new bearings, and the satisfaction of doing a job yourself.
You can handle this one Ashley. With a little supervision, this can be a snap.
Getting the bearing pre-load correct is probably the most critical, but it is easy.
Weigh the options here, and consider how much just turning the rotor is going to cost. Then consider that you have to remove the rotor assembly anyway.
Might as well go with a brand new, out of the box rotor assembly.
Wish I could help. There is space in the shop for you to work, and there is always space for cold adult beverages in the fridge!

I'm a bit mad at every brake shop, everywhere.
They charge SOOOO MUCHHH for a basic job. I've had good people, and family come to me after getting a 1000+ price quote for brakes and rotors. I replaced (on a 2003 Tahoe XL) both rear rotors/pads, and the front pads for $180.00 parts.
Is it a "liability" thing?
Just my experience..... $23.00 to turn a rotor, or $40.00 for new...
I always buy new replacements, unless I'm turning a drum for a semi-trailer.

please do not buy the cheap pads. i usually try to stay around the median price of the pads that the parts store offers. i cant see spending 75 for one calipers worth of pads for a vehicle i drive around the farm. and i dont trust pads that costs less than my happy meal did.

Where are you shopping?
My local parts store has your rotors for half of that. The prices that I stated above are directly from the site.
You can get your parts for much less than you are anticipating.

As far as the ceramic pads, I would lean towards not using them on your truck.
Ceramic is a very hard compound, and this hard compound is very hard on the rotor itself.
You probably do not need the type of heat that the pad is capable of working under. Since the rotor will not stand that type of abuse, and your pads will promote additional wear.
Stick with factory replacement stuff, and you should be fine, and still keep some money in your pocket.

i've had good luck with autozones duralast gold pads.

i tried some pads from NAPA once and they squealed like crazy under light braking. swapped them out with an autozone set within a week.

is the truck 2 or 4 whel drive?

I love ceramic pads. Great stopping power and a set of vented disk breaks.
