I need your opinions.

What would be the easiest way to pull back on the tensioner on my 93 5.7 GMC truck without having to loosen the bolt that holds it in place? The last time I used a long screw driver but I want to know how you guys do it or if there is an easy way of doing it alone while trying to put on the belt and no it has no slot to place breaker bar.

PS-I just want to make it easy on myself in-case it happens on the road I always carry an extra one, BUT now im thinking since it came off last weekend maybe I should change it out because it came off the other night again and I need no trouble on a trip do you think that it twisted some that's why? I feel stupid asking such an easy question.
Thanks! GMC

on the tensioner, you should have a hole that recieves a 1/2 breakover. it will be on the front side not more than a couple of inches from the bolt that holds it on. now that i think about it, i cant remember if it 3/8 but i do think it is 1/2.

on your truck if i remember correctly you can use a socket on the pulley and you should have no problem. that was before the changed it to how they are made now where you can use a 3/8 rachet to take the belt off.

I believe it should be a reverse thread bolt so if you use a long box wrench you will be fine
